In fact without ‘action’ nothing will happen, without action nothing is built, nothing is created, nothing changes. So, if you want to see results, you must take ACTION. Prioritize
It’s one thing to not procrastinate but it’s another to do things half-heartedly (it’s almost as bad as procrastination) Before embarking on any tinnitus habituation program, it’s always a good idea to sit down and prioritize what is actually of importance in your life.
What inspires, motivates and excites you about the future? Prioritizing and making your well being at the top of your priority list is of the utmost importance. What does the saying go like? “If you’ve not got your health, what have you got?” When I was in the throws of my tinnitus misery, my everyday well being and my lack of inner peace were all consuming. When you’re plagued by tinnitus it becomes all-consuming, you don’t sleep, you don’t concentrate, you don’t relax, all of these things contribute to stress and unhappiness. I made a decision to make tinnitus education and tinnitus habituation a major priority in my life. I wanted to focus on getting out of tinnitus suffering as much as I focused on the negative impact tinnitus was having on my life. So, sit down and figure out what it all means to you and how committed you are to making tinnitus habituation a priority.
Support
Tinnitus can be a major source of depression, which has the ability to change brain chemistry, making it difficult to find the will, enthusiasm and commitment to embark on a tinnitus habituation program. This subsequent depression can also be fortified with prior failed attempts to eradicate or overcome your tinnitus. Remember, if you’re promised an overnight, quick fix cure, one where you do not have to put in any effort on your behalf, it will usually only lead to disappointment and further depression. Either way, it’s important when one has tinnitus not to lose perspective and to try as hard as you can to stay social and in contact with your previous life. And that is the power of distraction, perspective and emotional support when needed. Staying an active member within a healthy community is one of the keys to longevity and well-being. I know this from personal experience, when I was suffering from tinnitus and Meniere’s disease, working/interacting within the community with my fellow tinnitus sufferers and Meniere’s disease sufferers, provided me with perspective and support when I most needed it. It also served as a constant reminded, that I wasn’t alone.
Belief
The final and most powerful tool is self-belief, without belief no magic happens, no self-transformation takes place. Let’s call self-belief the magical unseen glue, which binds all the elements.
But what if I don’t believe? That’s a good question! Do you want to know a secret?
