FAQ
What is tinnitus, and what are it’s causes and remedies?
Is there a cure for tinnitus?
The causes of tinnitus vary widely and no one treatment works for all tinnitus. When underlying causes of your tinnitus can be found, effectively treating “the cause” may help improve your tinnitus. However for the majority of the population.
A specific cause other than hearing related damage would not be found. Tinnitus is a subjective condition, meaning no two two people experience the noise in the same way. So, the only successful treatment is to learn to override the stimuli and bypass the condition.
What is the neuroscience of tinnitus?
Researchers believe the damage to specific area of the brain can affect how information flows to the brain. This creates a self-perpetuating loop, a ringing noise that doesn’t go away. When the ear is damaged, some of the auditory input the brain is used to getting, suddenly vanishes, it is now incomplete. But aside from the auditory system, brain regions that deal with attention, arousal, and emotions are also involved in the experience of tinnitus – tinnitus is defined not just by the sound, but also by how you react to it. If the constant ringing didn’t bother you, then tinnitus wouldn’t be a huge problem. Two people may get the same injury and one may be able to tolerate the pain better than the other, so tinnitus not only becomes a physical condition it is also a subjective, emotional condition.
is this tinnitus relief good?
There is no one quick fix pill for tinnitus. Tinnitus is a subjective condition and an emotional condition. No two people will experience tinnitus to the same degree; some are not bothered by tinnitus, whilst others cannot bare it. We have researched and combined the most successful and truly effective approaches to this emotional condition. Resulting in a multi pronged, cognitive based approach to effective habituation and eradication.
How is tinnitus treated?
Many doctors will not treat tinnitus, if an underlying cause is not found So the majority of treatments revolve around masking, hearing aids or conventional habituation therapy. If tinnitus is particularly troubling many will be prescribed anti depressants and sleeping pills. Unfortunately antidepressants do not get rid of tinnitus, they only change your perception of the noise. This can be done without chemistry altering, addictive drugs. ” Our motto is change your perception and you’ll bypass your condition”
Why is there no cure for tinnitus?
The only true cure is to no longer “suffer” from your tinnitus, and many have achieved that. Tinnitus is a symptom not a stand-alone condition, therefore the causes can vary. From hearing damage to medication to blood pressure to stress. For some finding the cause can eliminate the condition, but for the majority it is idiopathic and subjective, therefore learning to bypass your emotional based response is the only true cure.
