As you know there are no “quick fix tinnitus cures” but there are certainly ways to ease your suffering.

Start off the year by asking yourself this question:
“Why is it some people who have tinnitus do not seem to be bothered by their condition? While others seem to be overwhelmed by it?” (Read the answer after you’ve read the 5 hacks)
#1 Sleep
Sleep like a baby every night. Yes, easier said than done I hear you say! Well, as a former tinnitus sufferer I know how hard and how frustrating getting a good night of sleep can be. The early stages of my battle with tinnitus were spent tossing and turning every night, burying my head deeper into the pillow trying to get some rest bite. Eventually due to sheer exhaustion I gave up the fight and resorted to sleeping pills (not the best idea!) these left me groggy for half the day and listless for the rest. My advice for anyone struggling with tinnitus and sleep is to Invest in a good masking devise. They take a little getting used to at first, but after a while nothing beats the mood elevating, energy boosting effects of good, quality sleep.
#2 Exercise
Exercise is one of the magic bullets to physical and mental health. The benefits which exercise bestows upon our physical and mental wellbeing are overwhelming. Exercise doesn’t have to be extreme in fact the benefits from just moderate daily walking can be more advantageous than highly strenuous exercise. Exercise is not only good for the old ticker, but it aids in digestion, sleep and releases endorphins, which raise our natural, feel good factor. Some doctors agree that daily exercise can have just as good if not better results on our wellbeing than antidepressants. Many doctors prescribe anti depressants to tinnitus sufferers as a way to treat tinnitus (last resort lets hope!) So before you resort to popping pills, give exercise a run for its money.
#3 Eat
Eat for optimal health not just for comfort and escape. Many people when under stress compulsively eat the wrong foods. This is usually a temporary, comforting distraction to satiate taste buds rather than feed a genuine hunger. The food of choice for the stressed is usually quick burning foods high in sugar and fat. These quick fix foods usually provide a quick high followed by a sudden crash. There’s no point in following the other tinnitus busting tips in this blog post if you’re taxing and stressing the nervous system with Excitotoxins from foods that do nothing other than burn out your adrenal glands and contribute to making tinnitus that much worse. Instead, try and eat lots of whole, unprocessed, organic, fresh foods. Limit, caffeine, limit alcohol, limit artificial sugar and absolutely banish trans fats. This will not only help to treat tinnitus it will also help your heart, your clarity, your energy and your waistline. Not bad for simply swapping your pop for a delicious smoothie.
#4 Stress
Give stress the cold shoulder this year. Stress appears in many forms, not just psychological. As mentioned above certain foods stress the body, taxing the system and raising cortisol levels as will lack of quality sleep. Which interferes with your body’s entire ability to cope. Then of course there is our common idea of what stress is, anger, frustration, self-pity and disappointment. Regardless of where and how stress is occurring it’s our job is to release it or prevent it from manifesting in the first place. On a basic level tinnitus has a way of tightening the body, from the shoulders through the neck to the head, tinnitus tenses us up. Causing muscle pain, headaches, and jaw and neck issues. Daily stretching, yoga, tai chi or self-massage are good, gentle ways to release strain and pressure. Meditation, mindful walking are superb at calming and relaxing our mental anguish and teaching us to detach and observe our tinnitus without judging, controlling or wishing it away. Remember, quality sleep and good nutrition will also go a long way with helping with stress.
#5 Get social
Research reveals that those who maintain an active social life are less likely to suffer from subjective, emotional, conditions such as tinnitus. Now I don’t mean to say those who are social don’t have tinnitus, what I mean is, you are far less likely to “Suffer” from tinnitus. An active social life may include volunteering, coffee dates with friends, exercise with friends or activities at a community center. These all help to take the focus off of our condition and remind you that there is life outside tinnitus suffering. Listening to other’s problems, troubles, issues, triumphs and joys also helps us to put into perspective our own struggles.
The above hacks should ideally work in conjunction with one another, we are holistic being, the one comprising of many parts.
I hope the combination of the above-mentioned tinnitus busting hacks will help you to have a tinnitus suffering free 2016!
The answer to why some people just aren’t affected by the ringing in their ears, whilst others are tormented is as follows:
“You might be surprised to know that researchers now say that it has nothing to do with the tone, pitch, volume or type of your tinnitus and everything to do with how your nervous system responds to the stimuli. Rewire the response and you’ll bypass your condition for good!”
The Tinnitus Retrain System has helped hundreds of individuals suffering from tinnitus bypass their condition and live a life free from the chains of tinnitus suffering.
